Intro
First and foremost, before I jump into the redesign, I analyze the current site to see what I feel is working and isn’t working.
First, I notice the designer has stayed true to using blue as an action color. Great job. Though this is usually great in most cases, I don’t think it works here – there are too many CTA’s. The blue buttons are flooding the page, and as a user, I’m not sure which to click, which is a primary action, secondary action, tertiary action, etc. Not to mention, the button styles are inconsistent. Some are squared and others are more rounded.
Second, The flow of the site is very static. There is no animation and some sections are redundant.
Third, The length of the page is simply too long.
Type & Color
Given that cryptocurrencies are still a relatively new and unfamiliar concept for many people, using green can help instill a sense of trust in the platform's security and legitimacy. Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology are often associated with futuristic and innovative concepts. While there's no specific "industry standard" color for cryptocurrency websites, using a color like green can help the platform appear contemporary and forward-thinking. Lastly, considering that many financial websites lean toward blue or more traditional colors, using green can help Coinbase's website stand out and differentiate itself from competitors.
